Prayer

Prayer is not trying to get God to change His will.

It is trying to find out what His will is,

to align ourselves or realign ourselves with His purpose

for the world and for us.

That's why it is so important for us to listen

as well as talk when we pray.

_Alcoholics Anonymous Comes of Age, p. 265

From the Big Book:
"Here is a case in point: One of our friends is a heavy smoker and coffee drinker.  There was no doubt he over-indulged.  Seeing this, and meaning to be helpful, his wife commenced to admonish him about it.  He admitted he was overdoing these things, but frankly said that he was not ready to stop.  His wife is one of those persons who really feels there is something rather sinful about these commodities, so she nagged, and her intolerance finally threw him into a fit of anger.  He got drunk." c. 1939, AAWS, Alcoholic Anonymous, The Family Afterward, p. 135.

Prayer for the day:
"I pray that I may be taught how to pray.
I pray that I may be linked through prayer to the mind and will of God."
c. 1975, Hazelden Foundation, Twenty-Four Hours A Day, May 31.

Quote for the day:
"The greatest prayer is patience."  __Buddha

My share:
Besides the prayer I include in these daily message, I say a prayer for all others.  I pray that tolerance, patience, and wisdom guide them and bring them peace.  I include you in that prayer. Be Good To You, because I love you.  Dave
