There Is A Solution

Almost none of us liked the self-searching, the leveling of our pride,
the confession of shortcomings which
the process requires for its successful consummation.
But we saw that it really worked in others,
and we had come to believe in the hopelessness
and futility of life as we had been living it.
When, therefore, we were approached by those in whom
the problem had been solved,
there was nothing left for us but to pick up
the simple kit of spiritual tools laid at our feet.

From the Big Book:"This man recounts that he tumbled out of bed to his knees.  In a few seconds he was overwhelmed by a conviction of the presence of God.  It poured over and through him with the certainty and Majesty of a great tide at flood.  The barriers he had built through the years were swept away."

c. 1939, AAWS, Alcoholics Anonymous, We Agnostics, p. 56.

Prayer for the day:

"I pray that I may be grateful for God's spirit in me.

I pray that I may try to live in accordance with it."

c. 1975, Hazelden Foundation, Twenty-Four Hours A Day, July 26.

Quote for the day:

"He who account all things easy will have many difficulties."

__Lao -Tzu

A MEMBER SHARES:
Hi, my name is Linda and I am an alcoholic.  As much as I really did not want to admit it, I can say it today with gratitude, because there is a solution: The Steps.  When I first got here, I certainly wanted to be better IMMEDIATELY, if not sooner.  I seriously thought that by putting down the drink I would get better.  But I quickly learned that I needed to do something about changing ME, the woman who needed to drink . root causes and conditions.  I had to give time, some time.  There were things I must earn (or endure)!   I had to give up my way, my will, and look to the Higher Power for guidance.  I had to take the First Step every day and believe that I would get better if I kept coming and kept working.  In other words, trust in the programs, in the Fellowship, and in God.  For me, the first three Steps go hand in hand . "I can't, He can, so let Him."  My first sponsor used to say if none of the other Steps are working, go back to Step One, where it all hinges.  I will always be powerless over alcohol, but today, thank God, through working the Steps, finding a loving God and some faith, I have been able to see things differently and act my way into right thinking.  I continue to show up to grow up, through a continued working of the Steps, one day at a time.  I am still a work in progress, and it's up to me to enjoy the journey, one Step at a time!  Thanks for letting me share.  Linda G., Selden, NY

There Is A Solution

I love this simple line of four words. When I found this to be true I finally made some progress.
In Linda's sharing
I had to take the First Step every day and believe that I would get better if I kept coming and kept working.

My sponsor, 41 years sober, said to me Chuck I live that first step every day because if I lose that one I've lost em all. He has helped me so much and I am gratefull.
Thanks Zink and Linda
Chuck
