A Meaningful Life
into something that was compatible with
a functional and meaningful life.
I learned that sobriety isn't a discrete list
of tasks that you do and then check off;
it's a state of being that pervades every facet of your life.
I can now take solace knowing that as long as I'm a good person,
my Higher Power will look out for me.
And in order to be a good person, I have to be sober.
And the only way I can stay sober is
through the support of Alcoholics Anonymous.
The AA Grapevine, July 2008, Vol. 65, No. 2, p. 18
From the Big Book:
"Actually we were fooling ourselves, for deep down in every man, woman, and child, is the fundamental idea of God. It may be obscured by calamity, by pomp, by worship of other things, but in some form or other it is there. For faith in a Power greater than ourselves, and miraculous demonstrations of that power in human lives, are facts as old as man himself."
c. 1939, AAWS, Alcoholics Anonymous, We Agnostics, p. 54.
Prayer for the day:
"I pray that I may expect miracles in the lives of people.
I pray that I may be used to help people change."
c.1975, Hazelden Foundation, Twenty-Four Hours A Day, July 19.
Quote for the day:
"Why do birds sing in the morning? It's the triumphant shout: 'We got through another night.'" __Enid Bagnold
My share:
I seldom saw the morning light when I was drinking unless I had managed to drink all night non-stop. Many is the time I cursed the morning birdsong for disturbing my sleep. These days, I seldom miss the sunrise and if I do I really miss it. And the birdsong? That is the voice of God. Be Good To You, Dave

As is the rustle of a blade of grass, buzz of bee chirp of cricket. Love to you my friend, and thank you for being an inspiration for others.
Thanks Zephyr. You are too kind.
