Gifts
The gift of understanding has allowed the simple messages
from my parents, my teachers, and my church
to take on new meaning and soundness.
With the gift of serenity,
I am ready and willing to accept what God permits to happen to me;
with the gift of courage,
to take action to change the things I can for the good of myself and others.
The gift of wisdom
has been given to me so that in personal relationships
I may act intelligently and with love or,
as it has also been expressed, with competence and compassion. . .
I have come to believe that the gift of sobriety is what gives value and dignity to my life.
It is this that I have to share, and it grows as it is shared.

From the Big Book:
"Here are thousands of men and women, worldly indeed. They flatly declare that since they have come to believe in a Power greater than themselves, to take a certain attitude toward that Power, and to do certain simple things, there has been a revolutionary change in their way of living and thinking." c. 1939, AAWS, Alcoholics Anonymous, We Agnostics, p. 50.
Prayer for the day:
"I pray that I may prepare for better things which God has in store for me.
I pray that I may trust God for the future."
c. 1975, Hazelden Foundation, Twenty-Four Hours A Day, June 29.
Quote for the day:
"I do only want to advise you to keep growing quietly and seriously throughout your whole development; you cannot disturb it more rudely than by looking outward and expecting from outside replies to questions that only your inmost feeling in your most hushed hour can perhaps answer." -- Rainer Maria Rilke
My share:
Finding the time means making the time to sit quietly, to make contact with that Higher Power that resides within. Yesterday, I went to an audition for the Invisible Theatre, performed the matinee and the evening show of Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, and enjoyed a late dinner with a friend who came to see the show. Sometimes, only this process in the morning affords me that moment to contact HP. A moment is all it takes. Be Good To You, Dave
