Gifts
When I face a fear, I am given courage:
when I support a brother or sister,
my capacity to love myself is increased;
when I accept pain as part of the growing experience of life,
I realize a greater happiness; when I look at my dark side,
I am brought into a new light; when I accept my vulnerabilities
and surrender to a Higher Power,
I am graced with unforeseen strength.
I stumbled through the doors of AA in disgrace,
expecting nothing from life,
and I have been given hope and dignity.
Miraculously, the only way to keep the gifts of the program is to pass them on.

From the Big Book:
"You may think our illustration (of the jaywalker) is too ridiculous. But is it? We, who have been through the wringer, have to admit if we substituted alcoholism for jay-walking, the illustration would fit us exactly. However intelligent we may have been in other respects, where alcohol has been involved, we have been strangely insane. It's strong language--but isn't it true?"
c. 1939, Alcoholics Anonymous, More About Alcoholism, p. 38.
Prayer for the day:
"I pray that I may put much effort into acquiring spiritual things.
I pray that I may not expect good things until I am right spiritually."
c. 1975, Hazelden Foundation, Twenty-Four Hours A Day, May 15.
Quote for the day:
"The trick is, knowing how to tip ourselves over and let the beautiful stuff out."
__Ray Bradbury
My share:
If we are vessels to be filled then we are also vessels to dispense. The love that I found in A.A. has filled me to nearly overflowing. I must pour out a bit of that love daily because every meeting I attend, every newcomer I encounter, every hand that reaches out for help refills me. Be Good To You, Dave.
