Thoughtfood for Wednesday, April 30
Right Action
One of the most important things AA has given me,
in addition to freedom from booze,
is the ability to take "right action."
It says the promises will always materialize if I work for them.
Fantasizing about them, debating them,
preaching about them and faking them just won't work.
I'll remain a miserable, rationalizing dry drunk.
By taking action and working the Twelve Steps in all my affairs,
I'll have a life beyond my wildest dreams.

From the Big Book:
"To be gravely affected, one does not necessarily have to drink a long time nor take the quantities some of us have.
Certain drinkers, who would be greatly insulted if called alcoholics, are astonished at their inability to stop."
c. 1939, AAWS, Alcoholics Anonymous, More About Alcoholism, p.33.
Prayer for the day:
"I pray that I may develop the divine spark within me.
I pray that by so doing, I may fulfill the promise of a more abundant life.
c. 1975, Hazelden Foundation, Twenty-Four Hours A Day, April 30.
Quote for the day:
"A certain amount of distrust is wholesome, but not so much of others as of ourselves." __Madame Necker
My share:
For me, the suggestion to practice these principles in all our affairs is paramount to staying sober. If I just work the steps and then stop going to meetings, develop new, untreated resentments, refuse to tell anyone what's going on in my life or look for other non-alcoholic escapes, I am sure to lose sight of the peace and serenity I have found in this fellowship. Be God To You, Dave.
