AA members with computers can participate in meetings online, sharing with fellow alcoholics across the country or around the world.
In any meeting, anywhere, AA's share
experience, strength and hope with each other
in order to stay sober and help other alcoholics
Modem-to-modem or face-to-face,
AA's speak the language of the heart
in all its power and simplicity.
Reprinted from Alcoholics Anonymous,
(Foreword to the Fourth Edition),
From the Big Book:
"Notwithstanding the great necessity for discussing ourselves with someone, it may be one is so situated that there is no suitable person available. If that is so, this step may be postponed, only, however, if we hold ourselves in complete readiness to go through with it at the first opportunity. We say this because we are very anxious that we talk to the right person."
c.1939, AAWS, Alcoholics Anonymous, Into Action, p. 74.
Prayer for the day:
"I pray that I may attain a state of true calmness.
I pray that I may live in quietness and peace."
c. 1975, Hazelden Foundation, Twenty-Four Hours A Day, Oct 3.
Quote for the day:
"In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart."
__Anne Frank
My share:
I can surely understand the need for a person, in certain circumstances, to delay the fifth step fully if no suitable confidant is available. One should not, however delay the getting honest with themselves and God part. One can hardly move forward to the sixth step until the fifth is addressed. I was fortunate to find a man in my early sobriety in whom I found complete trust to be a closed-mouthed friend. He is still my sponsor. Be Good To You, Dave.
